![]() Cyber punk is around the corner and thats going to be using raytracing. the 30 seres cards though destroys it in every way.and with the new consoles around the corner that will have support for raytracing.that tech is no long going to be on a few games.if you look now a lot of games are now getting updates to support raytracing.and it will be on all titles very soon no doubt due to the consoles launching. it never really was to begin with, But it was the best and only choice back when it came out. Perhaps, if there is going to be a classic Q1 RTX than I get a new card for that first.Ī 1080ti is not optimal for 4k. If this continues like that, than for me it will be like with Doom/Doom Eternal that I exclusively upgraded for. And many of the good games either run on a toaster or are optimal with a 1080ti or less even. And there are only a few good games on this planet because its combine IQ/EQ levels is that of a rock. It's really quite useless without actual games. Target FPS is 90-120.Īlso, there are some people who got very little reason to do any upgrade right now. I'm on 1440 ultra wide 120hz, that's a good middle ground. fair play Ah, well, I don't do 4K gaming. im just not willing to wait that long befoer it comes out.if you want to wait that long and not enjoy gaming at 4k max setttings. Like i said if that happens sell it and get a 20gig version. The 3080 is not the same tier as mine so a pointless comparison in the first place. I guess that's what Nvidia is playing at. Well, if VRAM is the limit as predicted, it just will have enough VRAM not to lose its speed compared to a 3080 with games that use heavy streaming. So, performance wise a 3080 Super won't be much faster than its normal version. I'm not concerned that there may be no ti/super this time. Well, personally, since I got the ti version. till that time il be making my games at 4k with no problems. if that happens so what i just sell my card for a bit cheaper and then buy a 20gig card if it even comes out. ![]() Regarding Doom, it doesn't even support ray tracing or even DLSS.ĭoes not matter. I only bought my 1080ti for Doom and Doom Eternal. If AAA games continue to suck, I even will wait until the 40 series. For those who don't have it urgent, because there are no games they are interested in or still got their 1080ti like me, we can wait. Every console release is a good thing for PC gaming. Hence the lower price tag and the performance boost. Because it is next to the console competition. This generational launch, aside of the botched sales, isn't normal. ![]() And Doom only uses some of GI texturing methods, and not the full real thing. Many textures on the ground or walls, are still a blur compared to many of its own environment textures! Streaming will only relieve some of the VRAM needs. But it still takes 8GB VRAM, which probably is the reason why they are limited, not enough VRAM even on higher end cards. But that again needs texture space so VRAM.Ĭurrently Doom Eternal isn't even maxed for its own environment textures. Not to mentioned that ray tracing GI can be done via texture based shading for huge performance boosts, I think. I think they are going to be double the res for each dimension to make a quality difference, so it's quadruple the memory need for each ultra res texture. So, streaming only works to a limited extend to relieve the VRAM need.Īnd what we do know is, that for ultra res textures, we will need a ton of VRAM. But the data still has to be first moved to the VRAM for it to be processed and VRAM is always going to be much faster than even the fastest drive. We don't know yet how fast it really is, or how well engines handle the data. With the new console generation massive streaming for gaming will be introduced. it will be 3080 all over again but much worse. ![]() Your gona be waiting a long time before those drop and when they do you can be sure them bots are gona lap up al lthem cards. ![]() Първоначално публикувано от Thorny:I would wait until the other cards come out that have more vram. ![]()
